Our "Chief Executive Optimist", Tina has certainly inspired more than her share of inspiring conversations, so it makes sense that she'd be included in Voyage Utah Magazine's ongoing series of inspiring stories in Utah.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Hazlett. 

Hi Tina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?

I got into recruiting by accident – I went to an agency to help me find work when I moved back to Utah from Baltimore. They ended up hiring me. 

After 17 amazing years, I gave the notice to take a professional sabbatical (a year-long road trip around the country with my family, documented at to do some soul searching and figure out if recruiting was really what I wanted to do for the rest of my career. 

Turns out, IT IS! We are now filling a diversity gap in employment that Utah so desperately needs help with. We saw how cookie-cutter hiring was becoming in many of our local engineering and manufacturing companies and decided to “spice it up” by adding a little female energy and overall diversity to the equation. 

Our team is at a 53% diversity fill rate to date. We’re passionate about driving Utah businesses forward and we believe it starts with the people. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

It’s been a humbling road, but an incredibly satisfying one. Grassroots efforts; one connection, one conversation, one candidate, one company at a time.

A little thing called the pandemic made most hiring/recruiting come to a screeching halt and was by far our biggest challenge to date! But as typically happens, the blessings that came from the struggle include improving and implementing Outplacement Services, streamlining our Recruitment Process Ownership practices, and providing more extensive strategic consulting.

We are a more robust talent acquisition company than we were before, or even set out to be.

Increasing diversity in leadership positions in the engineering and manufacturing industry in Utah is our mission. Helping to get women to the tables where decisions are made is our goal. What do you like and dislike about the city?

What is there to NOT like about Salt Lake?!? The entire state of Utah has absolutely unmatched opportunities for outdoor recreation in gorgeous settings.

For myself and most of the folks I know, that’s a huge draw. Local culture is expanding, the economy is booming, it’s exceptionally safe, and the weather is fickle but fun.

Okay, maybe I wish I could join a wine club and get a bottle of something new and exciting delivered to my door, but otherwise, truly, this is a fabulous place to do business with equally fabulous and ambitious people.
