Wonderful Winter Solstice
Taking a break from business advice to wish everyone a wonderful winter solstice and happy holiday season from all of us at Spectrum!
“It was the most wonderful time of the year. It was the hap-happiest season of all… Or was it?”
- Keith Morrison
The holiday season marks a period of jubilation and camaraderie for countless folks across the globe. This time of year brings forth a tapestry of customs, cherished memories, and an atmosphere steeped in generosity and friendliness. Families gather, vibrant lights adorn streets, and the air buzzes with the spirit of goodwill, joy, and togetherness.
Yet, amid this luminosity, there exists a contrasting reality for some. For a portion of individuals, this time can cast a shadow, intensifying feelings of solitude, sorrow, or financial strain. The stark contrast between societal expectations of cheerfulness and personal struggles can accentuate emotions of desolation or exacerbate existing challenges.
So be extra kind this holiday season.
Compassion and support are fundamental in ensuring that, amidst the revelry, no one feels excluded or alone. Understanding the diverse emotional landscapes during this period is crucial to promoting inclusivity and empathy. By recognizing and validating these contrasting experiences, we can create a more supportive and understanding environment, extending kindness and fostering a sense of belonging for all during this season of mixed emotions.
Today, the solstice, is also literally the darkest day of the year. It’s officially winter and the shortest day of the year for those of us in the northern hemisphere, which means a long, cold night. Here in Salt Lake City the skies have been ominously grey and smoggy lately as we all patiently wait and hope for a white Christmas. Or at least a low-pressure system to scrub the air.
Surely all this doom and gloom must stop! This is a holiday post, for Pete’s sake! Give us some good news!
The good news is that if you’re reading this, you have much to be thankful for.
The good news is it's a great time of year to do some good for someone else.
The good news is that beginning tomorrow morning, the days will get longer and things will get brighter.
However you choose to celebrate the season, stay safe, be well, and do some good.
Thanks for being a part of our 2023, we look forward to an amazing 2024!
