Lead FPGA Design Engineer
Lead FPGA Design Engineer
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah
Compensation: $180K - $220K+
At some point we have all asked ourselves, “What if the GOLDEN GIRLS were DESIGN ENGINEERS?!?” Well, for one thing, they'd be SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEERS and secondly, the show would still be hilarious! Sofia would go on and on about how they didn’t even use simulation, synthesis, and placement software tools back in the old country. Dorothy would cut her off with a classic “Oh, Ma…” comeback. There’d be stories about Blanche’s extensive (and often scandalous) experience with signal processing algorithms. And, of course, Rose would find a way to relate FPGA design to growing up in St. Olaf, Minnesota with one of her quirky, downhome anecdotes. The ladies would still eat cheesecake at the end of every episode. It would taste terrible, but the shape would be amazing! BTW, we have a GOLDEN opportunity for a LEAD FPGA DESIGN ENGINEER.
Requirements & Responsibilities of the Lead FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) Design Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineer, or electrical engineering, preferred. Additional experience considered in lieu of degree.
- 10+ years of large FPGA experience on digital signal processing designs using high-speed serial interfaces.
- Demonstrable experience leading engineering teams through complex FPGA design.
- Deep understanding of simulation, synthesis, and placement software tools (ModelSim, Synplicity, Xilinx Vivado, and/or Altera Quartus).
- Ability to debug using signal generators, digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, BERTs, and/or other complex measuring devices.
- Strong VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language) and/or Verilog Hardware Development Language skills.
- Outstanding ability to implement Electronic Support and Electronic Attack signal processing and DSP (Digital Signal Processing) algorithms in FPGA and/or ASIC devices.
- Familiarity with modulation, digital filters, baseband sampling, tracking algorithms, FEC (forward error correction), and/or acquisition.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Git/Clearcase, and C/C++/C# programming languages.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Must be a U.S. person and able to obtain a security clearance.
- Design, develop, and test advanced signal processing and electronic warfare.
- Lead a team of engineers through the full design lifecycle with a focus on coding, simulation, synthesis, place and route, and verification testing.
