FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Compensation: $40/hr - $45/hr
Company Overview
Our client is a global manufacturer of specialized mineral processing and material handling equipment, serving the mining, quarrying, and recycling industries worldwide. With a multi-decade track record and thousands of installations across multiple continents, they are a recognized leader in their field. Their U.S. operations are based in the Southeast, with access to a worldwide network of engineering, manufacturing, and service resources.
Your Role:
The Field Service Engineer ensures that equipment in the field performs to its intended design and meets or exceeds customer expectations. Work spans commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of equipment — sourced from original contracts, direct customer requests, or routine site visits. On site, this person often serves as the sole company representative and is expected to handle any situation that arises with professionalism and technical authority.
What You’ll Do:
· Commission, assemble, test, and inspect equipment at customer sites; perform field diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, replacements, and modifications to restore and optimize performance
· Conduct performance tests (stall tests, feed size gradations, lubrication feed rates, temperature monitoring) and perform full machine overhauls including shafts, bearings, couplings, seals, and electro-mechanical and hydraulic drives
· Monitor field equipment to optimize performance (throughput, output size, material handling); present improvement recommendations to customers and engineering
· Serve as the on-site liaison between customer representatives and the company; train customer personnel on maintenance procedures and document site work and design improvement suggestions
· Travel about 20-30%— domestically and potentially internationally — to customer sites; work independently across varying environments and conditions to achieve successful outcomes
What You’ll Bring:
· Hands-on background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering with experience in heavy industrial or mining equipment; ability to assemble, test, and overhaul complex systems including drives, bearings, couplings, seals, and hydraulic components
· Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills; comfortable diagnosing root causes and executing solutions independently under pressure
· Physically capable of demanding site conditions (heavy tooling, heights, confined spaces, extreme environments); valid passport and willingness to travel extensively including internationally
· Clear, professional communication skills; able to interface with customer personnel at all levels and represent the company effectively on site
· Experience across multiple engineering disciplines (electrical, civil, rigging/haulage) or with mineral sizing, crushing, or bulk material handling equipment (preferred)
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to represent a well-respected global engineering company in the field, working directly with customers at mine and quarry sites with strong technical backing. The culture values honest communication, teamwork, and genuine investment in people — with room to build deep expertise, grow into leadership, and take on international assignments.
