Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Full-Time, On-Site

Compensation: $115K+ DOE (CAD)

The Company

Our client is a vertically integrated designer and manufacturer of large-scale, custom industrial equipment for the roll-forming industry, serving manufacturing customers across North America. With roughly 185–200 employees and $60M+ in annual revenue, they handle every stage in-house — mechanical and electrical engineering, PLC programming, machining, welding, and assembly. They're also building a proprietary controls and automation software platform as part of a broader move toward becoming a technology-driven manufacturer, and are investing heavily in their electrical engineering team to keep pace with strong, sustained growth.

The Opportunity

Every project here starts from a blank page — there's no template to pull from. As Senior Electrical Designer, you'll own complete electrical schematics for large, custom machines from concept through to a finished Bill of Materials. The team is actively expanding (this senior role alongside three intermediate and one junior designer), so you'll help shape how the department works as it grows.

What You'll Do

●      Design, detail, and revise complete electrical schematics for custom equipment using AutoCAD Electrical

●      Generate accurate Bills of Material that reflect the final design

●      Source and specify the right electrical components and devices for each application at the design stage

●      Support commissioning, startup, and on-site troubleshooting for equipment you've designed

●      Maintain clean, accurate design documentation to minimize revisions and change requests

●      Act as a liaison between mechanical engineering, testing, and the controls team to resolve design and manufacturing issues

●      Provide informal mentorship and technical guidance to intermediate and junior designers on the team

What You'll Bring

●      Strong, hands-on experience designing electrical schematics for custom equipment using AutoCAD Electrical

●      Exposure to motion control system design — servo drives and VFD motors - and PLC/HMI programming (Allen-Bradley platforms a plus)

●      Comfortable designing from scratch - every project here is custom, with little to borrow from past jobs

●      Experience sourcing and specifying electrical components and generating accurate BOMs

●      Engineering degree, technical diploma, or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical design

●      A willingness to mentor less experienced designers as the team grows
